How it Works

A quick guide to navigating and using SkillLab.

Groups

Content is organized into thematic groups such as AI Workshops or DevOps Training. Each group contains its own set of workshops and slideshows. Browse all groups from the Groups page or jump directly to one from the sidebar.

Workshops

Workshops are organized within groups. Each workshop contains documentation, exercises, and reference materials organized into categories. Navigate to a workshop to browse its content tree in the sidebar.

Slideshows

Slideshows are found within groups and require admin mode to access. They offer keyboard navigation (arrows, Space, PageUp/PageDown), fullscreen mode, and a presenter view with notes and timer.

Slide Authoring Guidelines

Each markdown file is one slide. Slides use a fixed 16:9 aspect ratio. The first # H1 heading is hidden — use it only as a sidebar title. Content that exceeds the slide boundary is clipped; an amber Content overflows badge appears as a warning.

Capacity at 1200px reference width:

Body text ~18 lines · Bullet list ~18 items · Code ~24 lines · Image max 535px · Table ~15 rows · Admonition ~12 lines

Tips:

  • Leave ~10% vertical space as breathing room
  • Avoid mixing code blocks with large images on the same slide
  • Nested lists: max 2 levels deep for readability
  • All sizes scale proportionally — design for 1200px, it adapts to smaller screens

Sidebar Navigation

The sidebar adapts to your context. At the top level it shows group navigation. Inside a group, it lists that group's workshops and slideshows. Inside a workshop, it shows the document tree with collapsible categories. Your navigation state is saved automatically.

Exercise Checkboxes

Exercises include checkboxes to track your progress. Your state is saved per workshop in your browser. Use the reset button in the toolbar to clear checkboxes for the current page (or long-press to reset the entire workshop).

PDF Export & Slide Downloads

Export any workshop's documentation as a branded PDF, or download the original slide deck if one is available. Both options are accessible from the toolbar when viewing a workshop.

Dark & Light Mode

Toggle between dark and light themes using the sun/moon button in the top-right corner. Your preference is remembered across sessions.

Admin Mode

Press Ctrl+Shift+K (⌘+Shift+K on Mac) to enter the admin code and unlock slideshows, presenter view, and additional features.

Getting Started

Start by browsing groups from the sidebar or the Groups page, then pick a workshop or slideshow. Use Prev/Next buttons or keyboard shortcuts (Alt+Arrow) to navigate between pages within a workshop.
